Why you don't like shopping?
How does it feel when you open the fridge and all you find there is light? You aren't really worried about starving to death because we don't live in the Middle Ages, but the thought of having to go to a local shop doesn't fill you with joy and optimism.
Why we generally don't enjoy shopping? Especially the everyday, household ones, but not only them. Maybe it's because of the ever-present queues? To the weight stand, to the dressing room, to the cash register. Maybe because of a shortage in the assortment? Maybe because of the "farmer's walk", when like an athlete, you're holding two dozen or so kilograms of shopping nets, which handles are hanging by a thread.
What if? Let’s use our imagination
What if the future offered you something more? Imagine a shop, without these annoying and discouraging things. Let's go over some situations.
Grocery store, the one you enter, you choose everything you need and leave without wasting any time. The rest is happening without your knowledge. We live in the 21st century, current technology is beginning to allow us to take the first steps in this direction. Goods with RFID chips, on the basis of which the shopping cart counts the entire content, automatic proximity payment based on biometrics (face, fingerprint or iris recognition), the possibility of ordering quick delivery of missing goods to the house.
Clothing store - instead of a dressing room, a mirror equipped with augmented reality technology, in which you see yourself in each of the creations available in the store, matching the appropriate parts of your wardrobe, combining colors, offering fashionable accessories.
An application for large DIY stores which, after typing in a product you want, uses a built-in phone camera to show on the screen the best route to the selected product range.
Let's go even further
Can there be a shop where there are no real products? You go in and all you see is graphical representations of goods with QR codes, just a second after scanning such a code you get the price, description, nutritional value, shelf life, a proposal for additional ingredients and even a three-dimensional model in augmented reality technology (AR). CLICK! - "Added to the virtual basket", another CLICK! - "Order paid for" Then the automated warehouse robot fills in the order and the neatly and ecologically packed parcel leaves the tunnel in the wall directly under your hand, or is sent to your door. Simple, comfortable and GENIUS!
The future is now
It's not a vision of utopia, it's a real future that is slipping into our lives. You can do your shopping from home with the home delivery service. "Vending machines’’ with snacks, coffee or cold drinks have been a standard for years, which has been taking on new forms and expanding into new types of goods. You can already use AR technology to quickly try on glasses frames, simulate matching hairstyles, fit the perfect shape and size of your shoes, and the first experimental take&go grocery stores have already started accepting the first customers, both abroad and in our Polish backyard (Poznan!).
The future is exciting! The retail industry is growing at an alarming rate. All this to make even the simplest of daily activities even simpler, more comfortable and more enjoyable.
