"Szybkomat 24/7" - Click & collect system in Leroy Merlin stores based on SelfLocker devices

 

At the end of March this year, the increase in morbidity resulting from the so-called "third wave" of the coronavirus pandemic resulted in the decision to restore epidemiological safety measures throughout Poland. During the most critical period, many service and commercial premises were closed. For the first time since the outbreak of the epidemic, this type of restriction has also not been avoided by DIY stores, access to which has been closed, blocking the possibility of free shopping. It was a necessity for the management boards of such retail outlets to undertake actions aimed at limiting the negative impact of the situation on the store's finances.

 

SELF-SERVICE PICKUP OF INTERNET ORDERS THANKS TO THE "SZYBKOMAT 24/7" DEVICE

 

Most major DIY stores focused on processing online orders with the option of picking up goods at customer service points located at the entrances to the stores. While browsing the online store's offer, the customer could choose to process the order in any selected chain store. The solution was not perfect in most cases. The possibilities of the employees issuing the orders were limited, the process took a long time and required very close interpersonal contact.

Leroy Merlin has improved its operations by using an automated click & collect system based on the SelfLocker parcel machine by SelfMaker. The device in the version for Leroy Merlin was called "Szybkomat 24/7" and was painted in characteristic green and white colors referring to the visual identification of the Leroy Merlin chain.

Thanks to this solution, customers buying goods via the Internet can fulfill their orders quickly, safely and independently.
